WHISPERING WOODS STABLES IS NOW offering non-traditional programs that focus on learning and healing through the use of horses and other animals. We are located just a few miles from the center of Augusta on top of Ingraham Mountain . These program are primarily offered in an outdoor situation, in the fresh air and all the while promoting physical activity. We are able to work in a quite outdoor setting with access to an indoor ring, outdoor ring, round pen, and trails.
We have instructors who are certified Equine Specialists in Mental Health & Learning through Path International, and also through EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Association).
We strive to promote learning by using the experiential and hands on learning techniques through working with horses on the ground in hand or at liberty (free). while focusing on the horse and human interaction in a non-verbal setting that is developed through planned learning experiences. Our programs will be based on individual goals for each client. Once the goals are defined, we will plan a horse/human activity and work towards the positive completion of that goal. By working with the horses and the nature of this program the goal could change at any moment, the horse will tell us where we need to focus or refocus our activities. We give the client a task and let them work it out to the best of their ability, while keeping them and the horses safe, we do not offer any verbal instructions, we may lightly suggest or hint on a resolution if we see that client losing confidence.
There are horses for adults, miniature horses for the little tikes. Horses see, feel, sense emotion, they mirror what is happening in our body and react accordingly. Horses are non-judgmental, do not place blame, or offer rejection or negative responses. By working with the horses the clients will learn respect, honesty, confidence, trust, social skills, emotional awareness, impulse control, empathy, self respect and the ability to problem solve. By working with horses it is also found to help lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, relieve stress, reduce anxiety, reduce depression, help with addictions or mental illness, teaches life skills, and help people over come trauma.
We will also be adding group programs such as team building for the corporate world, families dynamics, marriage counseling. Programs for veterans, first responders and general overall individual growth programs.
